Better known for their BB creams, Skin79 also has a colour range named Kick It Side.
The packaging is a diversion from the simple aesthetics of the skincare products but a cheering difference.
Here are my thoughts on a couple of items from the range: Let’s Go Glam Eyeshadow Base in Come On and Fantastic Eyes Eyeliner in Trembling Blue.*
Come On is a metallic pearl shade with a golden cast. An eyeshadow primer, it works well on its own, giving subtle shimmer to the eyes. It’s an easy product to work with – a brush or fingertip lifts the colour without difficulty, and it goes onto the lids without dragging on the skin. I tried it on a friend, applying it from lash line to brow, and she was delighted with its gentle illumination. I gave it to her eventually and she was thrilled that she could wear it to the gym too, thanks to its budgeproof quality.
Trembling Blue is a subdued teal that’s good for those who want something a little softer than the vibrant blue-greens that are all the rage now. A retractable waterproof eye pencil, it moves smoothly across the skin and sets nicely. It’s a good complement to the primer, the teal standing out prettily against the sheer pale gold.
With their ease of use and lasting properties, I’d say both products are fuss-free and useful eye makeup products to own.
In Singapore, the eyeliner is S$14.90, while the cream eyeshadow/eyeshadow base is S$19.90. They can be found at Watsons, where Skin79 is exclusively carried.
* Also pictured is Kick It Side Mascara in Hedwig Lash, a washable mascara with a curved brush. I’ve not tried it yet but hope to do so soon. For the curious, it retails at S$19.90.
