The new Benefit Fake Up Concealer has just arrived on our sunny island. Formulated with hydrating Vitamin E and apple seed extract, it is marketed as a crease-control concealer.
From the tagline (Cover-up goes incognito!) to the name pun (fake up – wake up – make up) to the visuals of a lady sleuth on an investigative trail, the clever concept is typical of most Benefit Cosmetics campaigns.
Available in 3 shades (01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Deep), this retractable product has a moisturising solid serum ring around the concealer core to lend hydration to the cream, promising to prevent it from caking, creasing or settling into fine lines.
I haven’t tried the concealer on my face yet but the two components meld nicely together and blend out easily on the skin when swatched. It certainly has a nice glide and a smooth texture which will appeal to people with a dry under-eye area. However, it does have the potential to be too moisturising, judging from the texture. I’d imagine that it could slide off (best to set it with powder) and wouldn’t work well on oily eye areas; it truly seems designed for dehydrated, crepey skin.
Offering sheer-to-medium coverage, the shades are fairly limited too. I’d love to see some deeper tones for chocolate skin, as well as a salmon for colour-correcting.
In Singapore, this concealer retails at S$38 for 3.5 g.
I have this concealer and i loved it! But it was really toooo dark for me as i took the one in deep! I misjudged my own skin colour i guess. Haha! But all is well when i mixed it with another concealer that is lighter! Im even more in love w the packaging and design! :D

Hi Bella,
That’s a good way to make a product work! It’s too emollient for me but it’s packaging is very user-friendly. :)
