A palette of complementary taupes and browns, L’Oréal Open Eyes Pro Eyeshadow Palette in Smoky Brown is a subtle shadow set of neutrals.
When I received this press sample from L’Oréal, I was quite happy about it at first look as I like cool-toned browns and taupes.
However, the colours are quite sheer and on their own, they don’t show up well on the skin. And while they do work with deep-coloured bases (I favour a dark brown pencil liner as a lid shade), the element of sheerness still exists.
Although I find it frustrating to have to battle to make the colours show up well, they will suit ladies who are leery of strong hues and only want a hint of colour. Another plus point is the sparkle of its two shimmery shades – they twinkle prettily under the light to add dimension to the eyes.
These really look like Kate palettes design wise! Too bad about the colour payoff, though I suppose they are more work-friendly than very pigmented shades.
Hi Rachel,
You’re right – there’s a Kate palette that’s very similar! I might have it but I need to check my stash. :D
