Skin79 Diamond Party

Two weeks ago, I attended a party that Skin79 held to showcase its Diamond I and Diamond II collections. Encased in reflective baby pink and rose pink packaging (pretty!), the two collections have the distinctive feature of being infused with diamond powder and a ‘Jewel Complex Powder’ comprising amethyst, coral, pearl, ruby and tourmaline.

According to the brand, these are the functions of the gems:

  • Amethyst – Keeps skin clean and healthy with astringent and is a soothing agent
  • Coral – Keeps skin sleek and moisturised by maintaining the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance
  • Pearl – Hydrates and revitalises dull complexion
  • Ruby – Improves skin softness and elasticity
  • Tourmaline – Keeps skin healthy and resilient by promoting blood circulation in skin

Pictured above is the lovely Lorraine, the brand manager of StarAsia. I loved that she was wearing a gorgeous  pearl bracelet with a crown centrepiece – very Skin79! (The brand is known as the Queen of BB Creams after all.)

The Diamond II range differs from that of Diamond I in that it is enriched with a ‘Peptide MX-II Complex’ and a ‘Flora Bouquet Complex’. It also contains the ‘Jewel Complex Powder’ of the first range (renamed ‘Blooming Jewel Complex’).

One striking item of the Diamond I range is the Star Glow Ball Powder (S$39.90), a veritable dupe of – and a more affordable alternative to – Guerlain Météorites Powder for the Face in 01 Mythic. Like the latter, the Skin79 version is a mix of shimmery coloured spheres that highlight and add radiance to the face and body.

Lorraine also revealed some good news. To celebrate Skin79 winning the Watsons Health, Wellness and Beauty Best Newcomer (BB Cream) award, two sets of Skin79’s best-selling BB creams are on offer until 25 August 2010:  Skin79 VIP Gold Super Plus Beblesh Balm Cream + Skin79 Hologram Pearl Pact and Skin79 Hot Pink Super Plus Beblesh Balm Cream + Skin79 Sun Protect BB Pact. Available exclusively at Watsons – as are all Skin79 products in Singapore – each pair is priced at only S$58 per set (that’s 20% off their combined retail price).

The party was held at The Icing Room, a confectionery run by the successful BreadTalk group.

Besides the array of sweet treats, the establishment also offers cake decoration sessions and DIY pastry handicraft. I wondered if the little cuppie-deco session that Skin79 had arranged would be similar to the one I’d participated in at the Benefit mini-party and Iris, who also attended the party, remarked wryly that she was pretty sure there were no aprons around! ;)

We were told that the best decorated treat would receive a little prize. Here are the creations from the session.

In the end, Sara won the little competition with her cuppie which had cute meandering paths and looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland. :)
