New K-Palette Releases: Real Lasting 1 Day Volume Mascara, Real Lasting 1 Day Keep Base & 0 Teka Oil Control Mat Powder

This September, local makeup mavens can expect to see three new products from K-Palette, the Japanese brand that gave us the liquid liner stalwart, 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h.

The latest in the brand’s line of mascaras, Real Lasting 1 Day Volume Enhancing Mascara in 01 Jet Black (S$25.90) is not only waterproof (a blue tag on K-Palette packaging denotes such a quality), it is also easy to remove. Similar to Déjàvu Fiberwig, this voluminising-cum-lengthening mascara coats lashes with an inky film. The protective coat, composed of fibres and pigments, can be easily removed with a gentle makeup remover or lukewarm water (I’m not sure how this works, what with it being waterproof but I reckon the answer lies in the temperature of the water).

Unlike the erratic Fiberwig however, Real Lasting Volume seems more promising. I saw it on someone’s lashes and was quite impressed by its performance: the colour is richly black, giving definition to unmade-up eyes and it clearly has a voluminising / lengthening effect. I believe this mascara could very well be an alternative to Opera MyLash which used to do the same for me (although it did not show up as intensely as this K-Palette lash aid).

A viscous fluid with ‘secret fiber’, Real Lasting 1 Day Keep Base (S$25.90) is a translucent mascara base that ups lash volume and maintains curls, preventing lashes from wilting.

This quick-drying lash base is also resistant to sebum and tears.

Containing SPF 15 (PA ++), 0 Teka Oil Control Mat Powder (S$19.90) is a finishing powder in a natural beige shade. Housed in a cute compact with a hint of the medieval (the scroll and font somehow remind me of knights), this powder with oil-staying power should be used on the T-zone and upper cheek areas to control shine.

‘0 Teka’ refers to ‘zero shine’ and the adorable pug in the corner of the plastic packaging with the Chinese character ‘臭’ (which means smelly) alludes to ‘persimmon tannin’, an odour-fighting ingredient in the powder. It also contains skin-softening hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

Slated to launch in the second week of September 2009 (if not earlier), look out for these three items on the shelves of Watsons stores at Bugis Junction, Jurong Point, Ngee Ann City and Tampines 1.
