With K-pop and K-drama permeating popular culture, the world is awash with the Korean wave, otherwise known as hallyu.
I was mulling on this as
I was writing the Watsons YOU awards post earlier on and I wondered which Korean celebrity I would nominate for each category. I eventually settled on eight interesting ones, all with varying degrees of popularity. Not all of them are beautiful in the conventional sense but it is precisely this that makes them unique.
To make this more interesting, I’ll let you take a guess before revealing my choices. If you’d like some help, highlight the text below to reveal the list of K-celebs I’d picked!

Flawless Face award
A chameleon when it comes to photos, this model-actress with beautiful almond eyes can be anything from impish to sweet to sexy in her performances and mag spreads.
Friendly Face (male) award
His affable face and excellent acting skills struck a chord in me when he delivered a powerful performance as a teenager in a 2006 drama. Today, he is a rising star and has exhibited a talent for singing too.
Not beautiful like most Korean star(lets), this actress who used to belong in a girl band has had a plethora of acting stints, including one that required her to play a man. Her skilled performance in that last role affirmed her acting abilities and cemented her position as a less than frivolous thespian.
With her signature luscious locks, this actress often has a defiant expression on her face that adds to her star quality…and complements the toss of her pretty head.
Healthy Skin award
Charming and sweet, this clear-skinned beauty delighted many with her effervescent performance in a drama romp that had her laughing as much as it had her crying.
Sporty Physique award
This tanned performer is as good in the home as she is on the stage. Her popularity grew as she traipsed Korea with one of the country’s hottest stars (see below) in a reality show, impressing viewers with her potpurri of skills.
Leader of a famous boy band and the epitome of princehood. His good looks belie his fun-loving nature which was highlighted in the popular reality program he had participated in with the singer above. Impossibly suave and incredibly cool, his smile is unmistakable.

YEH was easy, yes? ;) I’m impressed you got one of the F3 because the photo doesn’t really reveal much. He was so good in Outrageous Women! Someone mentioned that his teeth was crooked in that show and that he must have done something to them before BBF. :P
