When Yahoo! closed down its popular site in October 2008, many sellers (and a few buyers) were at a loss, reluctant to turn to eBay for varying reasons; strict rules and listing fees being two main ones. Gmarket Singapore may prove to be a worthy alternative, if this is to be believed.
Gmarket Korea receives business from all over the world and is a good place for the purchase of both well-known and niche Korean beauty products, its complex payment system notwithstanding. I know a few people who have purchased successfully from the site.
I wonder if this heralds an easier access to Korean brands for us. Since Gmarket is based in Korea, it stands to reason that Korean sellers would make use of this platform – like eBay SG does on the international eBay site – to attract more Singaporean buyers. That said, I am not certain if Gmarket KR and Gmarket SG are set up (yet?) for integrated buying and selling.
Will I see Banila Co, Cathy Cat Colorist and Clio trickling their way in here soon? If so, I hope that this new online marketplace brings us reasonable pricing too.
These are exciting times for local makeup lovers!
* I discovered this while doing a Yahoo! Crossword! ;)
I have a lot of love for Korean makeup, thanks to your introducting me to it! I’m going to check this site out for sure! I adore that Etude blush you sent me-smells like peaches and so shimmery!
Hi Katie!
:) Enjoy your Korean lovelies!
