Known as The Pebble of La Clarée, this organic soap (75 g/S$10.90) in the La Clarée Oliv’ box I was sent to try impressed me with its tenacity. For all its moisturising properties, it does not disintegrate easily in the shower – it remained firm, despite being left exposed on my soap shelf for two months. For an organic product with a large proportion of its ingredients derived naturally, this is surely a feat. Among other ingredients, it contains softening sweet almond oil and olive leaf extract, while more than 94% of it is composed of a vegetable foaming base derived from coconut and coprah (coconut kernels).
Like many new-generation soaps, The Pebble does not strip the skin of moisture. It cleanses adequately, leaving my skin feeling just right after a shower; no dryness, no filmy coating. The exfoliating agent of Argan kernel powder is not particularly scrubby, although I must concede that the scrubby bits felt stronger with initial uses. The soap actually feels very gentle against the skin.
If you’re looking for a bar soap with strength in exfoliation, this is not the product for you. However, if you would like a soap that cleans well, is gentle and delivers a mild massaging action with its exfoliating grains, do give this soap a try.
