I know Holiday 2013 is almost upon us but for those of you who haven’t seen the autumn offerings from Nars yet (yes, all 3 of you!), here’s a quick look at the 12-piece collection.
In it are:
Eyeshadows in Bavaria, Namibia, Kamchatka and Yamal (LE) (S$38)
Here’re the shadows, swatched over Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. The teal is pretty and fairly-pigmented but the soft grey, though cool and calming, is barely visible when swatched dry. The smokey violet is good for a night-time eye and the dusty camel will make a nice contour shade.
Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliners in Las Ramblas (LE) and Via de’ Martelli (S$33)
These apply smoothly, as is the feature of the range. The gold will appeal to those of you who love a pop of colour to offset deeper liner tones.
Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Mysterious Red (LE) and Paimpol (S$37); Pure Matte Lipsticks in La Paz (LE) and Peloponnese (S$38)
The red is markedly more striking than the blah pink; though I think the latter might work on deeper skintones for a highlighting effect or a pale contrast lip. The orchid is an unmistakable autumn shade, while the ginger is warming on the complexion. However, both are too shimmery for my taste.
Nail Polishes in Galathée (LE) and Fury (LE) (S$30)
Though the dove grey and deep purple aren’t particularly unusual, they are pretty and modern hues. I remember how a Nars MA in Bangkok was swooning over the shades when they first launched!
These colours are already available at the Nars boutique at Tangs Orchard. Here are lippy-shadow combinations that I’ve put together for this collection. I hope you try them!
